Welcome to a new quilt project you will definitely want to start dreaming about. Aptly named for the Goddess of the Stars, Asteria, is a celestial masterpieces in blue and white batiks.
The finished quilt from Tiffany Hayes of Needle in a Haystack measures 106" x 106" and is an 8-Month Block of the Month Series.
Each month there is a new block to make and instead of making one you will make several of the same block. Participants will be amazed at the combination of 4-patches, half-square triangles, and other simple blocks that combine to form this masterpiece.
There is also a bonus quilt pattern each month that features the current month’s block designed into another whole quilt.
The pattern suggests using The Goddess Tool (which will be available for purchase) to quickly and easily create corner cut-aways, half square triangles, tall triangles and half tall triangles.
Sign up will begin August 13, 2016 and we hope to begin Block One October 8th. Participants will be responsible for purchasing their own 4 fabrics, a background, a light, a medium and a dark at Top Shelf Quilts). The original quilt was made in batiks, but whether you use batiks or not is totally up to you. (Total cost for your fabric will range in the $215.00 range.) In addition, the first month you will pay for the patterns ($56.00) and the second month the tool needed to make some of the blocks $22. Patterns will be dispersed monthly.
